Juapong: One killed, 2 injured over land dispute

A violent clash between the people of Awlime and Kluma, near Juapong on Saturday, over a piece of land has resulted in the death of the stool father of Awlime, Ebenezer Atsu.

Two other persons Asafoatse Jonas Atsu and Tse Mensah sustained injuries. Mensah has been treated and discharged, while the Asafoatse has been admitted at the Volta River Authority Hospital at Akosombo

The body of the stool father has been deposited at the Peki Government Hospital pending investigations into the matter.

Briefing Graphic Online the Volta Regional Crime Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Adamu Seidu said one Torgbui Dordzi of Awlime, accompanied by Mr Emmanuel Hlorgbe, had reported to the police at Juapong that the stool father and victims were attacked by a group of men from Kluma over a piece of land.

In the process, he said, the group allegedly killed the Asafoatse and injured the other two persons.

He said tension was high in the area as the people of Awlime, where the stool faither hailed from, were allegedly preparing to launch a reprisal against the people of Kluma.

Supt. Seidu said the police deployed more personnel to the area to maintain law and order.
