DSS on BOKO HARAM at the US and UK embassies

Five persons have been arrested as the Department of State Security (DSS) said it foiled a planned ISIS-linked Boko Haram attack on United States of America and United Kingdom embassies in Nigeria.

In a statement issued by Tony Opuiyo, the premier security outfit said it prevented the fatal attacks between the 25th and 26th March, 2017, halting the malevolent gangs based in Benue State and the FCT, from striking.

The DSS further added that apart from preventing the attacks, it also arrested the masterminds whose names were given Isa Jibril, Jibril Jibril, Abu Omale Jibril, Halidu Sule And Amhodu Salifu.

The DSS official said a suspected Boko Haram member who was arrested on March 22, in north-eastern Yobe state, confessed details of the plot.

Opuiyo added that the attackers were subsequently arrested.

He said: “The group had perfected plans to attack the UK and American Embassies and other western interests in Abuja.”

The Islamist terror group Boko Haram has close ties with ISIS and has killed more than 20,000 people during an eight-year insurgency in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.

More than two million people have been forced to flee their homes since 2009 due to the group’s reign of terror.

The elusive leader of the Islamic death cult, Abubakar Shekau, is on a mission to create an Islamic caliphate in the Northeastern part of Africa’s most populous nation.
